Introduction:

We are sensory beings, who live and interact with the world through our senses.  Different children notice and respond to different things around them.  These differences are usually normal and part of what makes us individual.  However, some children either under or over respond to the sensory signals around them, leading to difficulties with their daily routines.  This training will help participants to recognise these children and learn ideas for supporting them and their families.

Outcomes:

  • To understand what is meant by the terms ‘sensory processing’ and ‘sensory processing difficulty/disorder’
  • To gain insight into sensory processing preferences and how this impacts daily life
  • To be able to recognise possible difficulties with sensory processing
  • To take away ideas to support children who have problems with sensory processing and self-regulation
