Early Years Speech and Language Therapy Training

The new training calendar for the Summer Term of 2019 from the Early Years Speech and Language Therapy service is now available.

Courses available: 

The foundation training and supporting conversations with parents training is for any staff working in the early years including EYPs, Health Visitors, Early Help Staff, Volunteers.

The advanced language group training is for practitioners who have completed the foundation course and are running groups in their settings.

Booking: It is essential to book onto ALL training courses, a booking form is attached. All training sessions need to be booked in advance. There is a cost of £30 to attend the foundation course. All staff should attend the foundation course before they access the advanced courses. If a staff member has previously attended a foundation SLT course (which was previously known as the 2 day Supporting Speech and language Development in Early Years Settings) they do not need to complete the foundation course.  All the advanced courses are for 2 ½ hours and there is no cost to attend.

RBKC & WCC Training from Speech & Language Therapy for Early Years Practitioners

Training from speech and language therapy for early years practitioners (including children centre staff, early help, childminders, voluntary organisations) for next term.

3 Training Courses (details attached):

Foundation Training: This one day course will provide early years practitioners with an overview of speech, language and communication development from birth to five.

Advanced Training: Communication Partners: Developing Language Skills in Small Groups – Level 1. This 2.5 hr course will provide early years practitioners with an overview of how to plan and run language groups to support children’s speech, language and communication development

Advanced Training: Communication Partners: Developing Language Skills in Small Groups – Level 2 . This 2.5 hr course will provide early years practitioners with an opportunity to build on knowledge already acquired from Level 1 to learn about a wider range of activities to support language development.overview of how to plan and run language groups to support children’s speech, language and communication development.
