We work with schools to help them develop and implement their school travel plan. We promote sustainable travel to school, which helps to reduce pollution and congestion around school sites. We also address safety issues outside schools; through training and engineering measures, and a range of initiatives to encourage walking, cycling and public transport and a reduction in car use; supporting schools with various resources, and funding.

A range of road safety interventions, initiatives, activities and advice that aim to improve road safety skills and awareness in children, young people and across the community. Additionally, we deliver targeted programmes for children and adults with special educational needs (SEN).

Including the School’s Road Safety programme, teaching key road safety messages through practical pedestrian training for Year 2 and 4 as well as interactive talks for other year groups.

Non Stop Action are Physical Education specialists, with a track record of improving the attainment of children in lessons as well as the confidence and pedagogy of teaching staff in schools. Our specialist teachers enable children to become physically literate through a range of advanced teaching methods led by our in-house educational experts.

We aim to get children physically active and healthy in the Barnet borough and promote and use a host of classes, methods and interventions to improve the health and wellbeing of all of the children in our care. These include:

Provision Summary:
Support for the physical activity strand of the Healthy Early Years London Awards at Bronze, Silver and Gold level:

  • To complete the physical activity statement
  • For staff to have a positive approach to actively supporting children’s outdoor experiences
  • To plan an environment and resources to enable children to be physically active, both inside and outside that has free flow play continuously regardless of the weather
  • To minimise the amount of time children spend being sedentary for extended periods (except time spent sleeping and eating encouraging children to sit less and move more).
  • For practitioners to know how to differentiate age-appropriate physical activities for all children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)..There are activities and information available for parents and carers to support children’s physical activity, physical development and reducing sedentary behaviour. Staff have the subject knowledge to provide this informationand refer/signpost families to specialist services to help parents and carers access additional support for children where there are physical development concerns
  • For settings to achieve HEYL Silver and Gold Awards. Support practitioners to identify new enhanced projects, practices and interventions to address physical activity priorities.
